Elisa Richards is a contemporary painter based in Skennars Head, Northern NSW.

The natural colours of the earth, the sea, the sky and the stunning coastal dunes and landscape that surrounds her, inspires her artwork.

From an early age, Elisa enjoyed drawing and during her teens developed skills in painting and working in mixed media.

With creativity and design having been heavily intertwined in her life, Elisa has gained skills in many creative mediums including mono printing, screen-printing pottery, sewing, jewellery making and photography. She loves to create and has found art to be a wonderful and powerful tool to investigate feelings, emotions and make sense of the world.

Elisa holds a Diploma in Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. After many years working in health, she has recently returned to her creative roots. Her experiences in working in health have provided skills and an understanding of human anatomy and the human condition, and led her to a journey of exploring through her art, themes of identity, emotion and human connection. 

Painting provides Elisa with a creative outlet to go deep into her thoughts and unlock what is sometimes hard to put into words. Her work is forever evolving as she enjoys continually learning along her artist journey.

Currently Elisa is focussed on painting works that explore genealogy, heritage, connection, love and relationships. Each piece uses rhythmic lines that represent the complexity of ancestral and family ties that each person carries into their own experiences of love and connection.
